Hello!
So many listeners of The Screenagers Podcast have told us that what makes the show extra special and helpful to them is hearing real world examples from other parents, teachers, teens and kids who share their challenges, concerns, advice and solutions on matters related to screen time, social media and this digital age in general.
That is why I am making this special request of you — to everyone reading this.
This year we’re excited to create the Screenagers Caring Community! This is a group of our listeners and supporters — both youth and adults — who are interested in speaking on The Screenagers Podcast and sharing their stories, opinions, advice and more!
You would join a private list maintained by our Screenagers team that would include people passionate about improving screen time issues for youth (and adults) in our society.
From time to time, usually about once a month, we will send topics or questions your way that we would love to get your perspective on. If it was something that you wanted to weigh in on, then you would let us know by reply.
From there we would arrange a time to chat over with me (Delaney), Lisa or another member of our team, usually on zoom and with your permission we would audio record the chat for use in the podcast. (No video and if needed it can be anonymous and even voice modified.)

When kids struggle with big emotions, many parents reach for a screen to keep the peace — but this can get in the way of children developing real coping skills. Drawing on research from Dr. Jenny Radesky, this post shares two practical strategies: using the Zones of Regulation color system to help kids name and process their feelings, and doing a toy swap with another parent to build your "vulnerable village" of support. Both approaches turn difficult screen-time moments into opportunities for emotional growth.

When teens say they hate you, it often feels personal, but it may not truly be about you. Teens sometimes direct their overwhelming feelings toward the safest person in their life. Instead of responding with logic or backing down out of fear, check that your limits are fair, practice self-compassion, and focus on validation rather than correction. If conflict feels stuck, family counseling can help both sides feel heard and understood.
